Martin Snedden, Chief Executive, Rugby New Zealand 2011

Martin SneddenMartin Snedden was appointed to the position Chief Executive of RNZ 2011 Ltd in December 2006 and took up the position in May 2007. RNZ 2011 is a joint venture company established by the New Zealand Government and the New Zealand Rugby Union to organise and deliver the Rugby World Cup 2011 Tournament. In 2011 New Zealand plays host to teams from 20 countries across 13 match venues from Whangarei to Invercargill. The Rugby World Cup is a huge programme of work involving delivery of 48 matches, hosting 20 teams, construction of venues, accommodation, ticketing, volunteers, transport, and stakeholder management.

Martin was previously Chief Executive of New Zealand Cricket between 2001 and 2006. Martin represented the Blackcaps (the New Zealand Cricket Team) between 1980 and 1990, playing 25 test matches and 93 one day internationals and was part of the New Zealand team which competed at the 1983 and 1987 World Cups.

He is a qualified lawyer and worked in that capacity for his family firm in Auckland between 1981 and 2001. Martin has been married to his wife, Annie, for 26 years. They have four children.
