Meridian Energy's West Wind Farm
Join us for this insightful tour of the Makara Wind Farm. Hear how this project developed – from inception to construction to the switching on of the turbines by Prime Minister John Key in 2009.
This three hour escorted tour will begin with a pick up from Wellington. You’ll be taken to Makara Wind Farm to meet some of the project team and maybe even get up close and personal with some of these magnificent turbines. The morning will finish with a light morning tea and transport back to Wellington.
Tales and Rails Tour
Enjoy a guided tour of the Museum of Wellington, followed by a trip on the Wellington Cable Car escorted by the tour’s personal gripman. The gripman will tell you all about the 'relentless red rattlers' and give you a tour of the Cable Car Museum. A light afternoon tea will be served at the spectacular Skyline restaurant.
As an added bonus, this tour will finish at the Westpac stadium where you’ll be taken behind the scenes of the capital’s major sports ground and home to the Wellington Hurricanes and the Phoenix.
This tour will finish in time for the Conference Welcome Function.

What do employers really want?
For the last five years Justin has been with Gen-i and Telecom involved in delivery of projects and developing the Project Management practice and capability, working across all of the Telecom operationally-separated management units, selecting, recruiting and supporting the development of project managers. During this time he has interviewed literally hundreds of project managers at all levels. Join Justin as he shares his insights into what makes a successful recruit, what employers are looking for and hear about some novel approaches from both sides of the interview table.
The Big Picture: the vital role project management plays in the health of organisations and in New Zealand's wealth
Everyone accepts the importance of excellent project management, but in reality, it's not often practiced. With a particular interest in developing high performance organisations - coupled with his significant experience in both board and executive roles - Kerry McDonald is well qualified to comment on the critical role of project management in the Big Picture. Join Kerry as he discusses this in the context of New Zealand's low productivity and living standards, and the ongoing challenges we face day to day.
